Suzuki closes its factory in Thailand

Japanese car maker Suzuki has announced the closure of its factory in Thailand. It has been reported that this plan will be implemented by the end of 2025. News Nikkei Asia.

According to the news, Suzuki has decided to focus on the decline in car sales in the Thai market and other factories in East Asia.

In 2007, the Thai government announced the eco-car project. Suzuki Motor Thailand (SMT) was established in 2011 with the benefit of that project. The next year, the SMT factory started producing fuel-efficient cars. Where 60 thousand units of cars are produced every year. Some of these are exported abroad. However, later production in the factory decreased.

According to the company's published data, the factory in Thailand produced only 7,500 vehicles in the year till March. As a result, the company is emphasizing on increasing production in other Asian countries like Indonesia, Japan and India.
